Rape isn't a purely physical or instantaneous crime. Long after the initial assault and physical scars have healed, the mental trauma endures. While the mental effects of rape vary from surviver to surviver, many experiences are similar. To name a few: pervading guilt, paranoia, aversion to sexual contact, constant fear, loss of ability to trust others, self harm, and post traumatic stress disorder.

"Journey" serves s a visual diary for a fictitious survivor. Each piece is a reconstruction of their memories and documents their process of healing while dealing with the emotional turmoil trauma causes. The goal of this series is to allow those fortunate enough to never experience such a horrific crime to empathise and understand the journey of healing a survivor must undergo.

"Journey" is based on testaments and stories told by real survivors.
